Hope Solo Is Pissed At Brandi Chastain
The outspoken US goalkeeper unleashed a series of angry tweets in response to soccer legend and announcer Brandi Chastain’s criticism of the team’s defense.
Solo was called into a meeting with Women’s National Team coach Pia Sundhage and the team captains, but was not punished for her rant. Captain Abby Wambach said of the meeting:
“We just wanted to get on the same page on the things that we are focused on, and the things that we’re going to be talking about, whether it be in the media or behind closed doors with your teammates. … We have to appreciate different people’s personalities and their opinions. However, we also want to create a bubble. We want to create some sort of symmetry in terms of what we’re doing here and why we’re here, and that’s what we’re all about.”
The Women’s National Team will play North Korea on Tuesday.
