Ten years ago, then Cardinal of New York Edward Egan issued a public apology for the Church’s role in sex abuse cases. Yesterday the now retired Egan retracted that apology saying that he never dealt with a case of abuse.
It’s disheartening to see people mock the Catholic church because of one crazy asshole. He doesn’t speak for all of us. Would you judge another religion’s followers because of what one dick said? Osama Bin Laden was a fucking bastard, but that doesn’t mean I don’t respect and admire people of the Islamic faith. There’s a sensitivity chip missing in many of these comments.
Saying “If we did anything wrong, I’m sorry” is a shitty non-apology in the first place. It’s on par with “I’m sorry you feel that way”. So really, him retracting his earlier bullshit remarks makes little difference. It just confirms that he’s a petty, short-sighted, arrogant prick who has no right to claim to speak for human beings, let alone God. I’m not a fan of organised religion, but there are some decent priests out there who get another stomach ulcer every time a troll like this opens his mouth. People like this give the rest a bad name.

Why the f*ck are we letting these people have any say in this country’s politics?! They protest birth control being covered in health insurance but are OKAY with pedophilia priests abusing little boys?! It’s time for our population to wake up and stop letting these old, out of touch, twisted little men in their big hats set the tone and direction of morality in this country. I’n bloody sick of the bullshit hypocrisy.
I was never a fan of this guy, mainly because he has one of those scary, deep voices. It’s like hearing the voice of the devil in church. That and during his time, they closed down churches like Mitt Romney shuts down small companies.
