Typically artists have been known to throw very zany requests into their tour contracts. Over the years they have been interpreted to be pre-madonas but the truth of the matter is that tour contracts are very comprehensive. The venue has to be properly equipped with electricity, loading and unloading zones, proper seating, etc. Typically artists would throw these weird requests somewhere in the middle of a 145 page contract, not to be weird, but rather as a litmus to determine if the promoter or venue even read the thing. For example, Ozzy's representatives would be able to tell if the promoter or venue carefully read the agreement by walking into his dressing room and seeing if they followed his M&M request. If they didn't, they would be able to anticipate other problems such as inadequate docks, or lighting, or sound, or electricity.
