The Investigation Into Why A Politician's Twitter Account Liked A Porn Tweet Is Over

The AFP said no offences were identified.

The Australian Federal Police has ended its investigation into why health minister Greg Hunt's Twitter account liked a porn tweet, almost six months after the tweet was liked.

BuzzFeed News reported in January that Hunt had called in the AFP to investigate why the official Twitter account of the health minister had liked a tweet from a porn account back in December.

"This was clearly a hack and has therefore been referred to the AFP," a Hunt spokesperson told the Daily Telegraph.

In a statement provided to BuzzFeed News on Wednesday, a spokesperson for the AFP said that the investigation had been completed and no charges had arisen from the investigation.

"The investigation has determined no offences were identified, and the AFP considers this matter finalised," the spokesperson said.

"The AFP will be making no further comment in respect to this matter."

BuzzFeed News sought comment from Hunt's office but did not hear back by publication.

Documents obtained by BuzzFeed News revealed that two to five AFP officers had been assigned to the case, which the AFP classified as an "essential priority" and one of "high value" to the AFP.
