10 Radical Margarita Recipes
Because why wouldn’t you mix chocolate syrup with your tequila? No, seriously, why wouldn’t you? Whether blended, shaken, stirred, or enjoyed straight, there’s nothing quite like the crisp, refined taste of Jose Cuervo. Please remember to drink responsibly.
1. Chocolate Margarita
What breed of alcoholic alchemy is this? Dessert and drink in one cocktail? We truly are living in the future.
Requires:
-1 oz Jose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequila
-¾ oz orange juice
-½ oz Kahlua
-½ oz half n half
-¾ TBS chocolate syrup
-ice
-Oreo cookies
Crush Oreo cookies in a sandwich bag, then distribute onto a small plate. Combine your liquid ingredients in a shaker, then stir in a spoonful of chocolate syrup. Add ice and shake well. Line the rim of your glass with crushed Oreo cookies, pour your beverage in, and enjoy.
2. French Margarita
This fancy French cocktail is best garnished with skewers of raspberries, blackberries, and condescending attitudes about art and wine.
Requires:
-⅔ oz Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
-⅓ oz. Grand Marnier
-¼ oz. each lime juice, orange juice, sweet and sour mix
-⅓ oz. Chambord
Pour your Cuervo into a glass, then add the Grand Marnier, lime juice, orange juice, and sweet/sour mix. Cover the glass with a shaker, shake, then pour the contents into a margarita glass. Top with Chambord, and garnish as necessary.
3. Avocado Margarita
Behold: the quintessential fiesta beverage.
Requires:
-1 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado Tequila
-½ oz Triple sec
-1 lime
-¾ oz agave nectar
-half a ripe avocado
-1 sprig of cilantro
-salt for rim
-lime wedge for garnish
Muddle the avocado, lime juice, and cilantro in a mixing glass. Add the Cuervo, Triple sec, and agave. Top with ice and shake. Strain into an ice-filled, salt-rimmed glass, then garnish with lime wedge, serve, and enjoy.
4. Lavender Margarita
This lavender-based concoction is a sweet, classy alternative to the traditional margarita mix.
Requires:
-1 oz. Jose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequila
-½ oz. Cointreau
-¾ oz. lavender simple syrup
-½ lime
-sugar
-dried lavender
Pour your liquid ingredients and squeeze your half lime into a shaker, then let sit. On a plate, mix the sugar and dried lavender, then use it to rim the outside of your glass. Fill the glass with ice, then shake and strain the liquid into the glass, serve, and enjoy.
5. Spicy Margarita
Sweet’s one thing, but spicy’s another ballgame entirely.
Requires:
-2 slices of muddled red peppers
-1 oz Jose Cuervo Tradicional Reposado Tequila
-½ oz Cointreau
-⅓ oz lime juice
-½ parts simple syrup
-a pinch of cilantro
Combine all of the above ingredients into a shaker, then pour into a glass with ice. Garnish with a slice of red pepper, serve, and enjoy.
6. Creamsicle Margarita
And you thought you couldn’t get brain freeze from a margarita…
Requires:
-1 ½ oz. Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
-1 oz. Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix
-3 oz. orange juice
-1 scoop vanilla ice cream
-6 oz. ice
Pour all ingredients into a blender, blend until slushy, pour, serve, and enjoy.
7. Kiwi Margarita
Just don’t call it an Australian Margarita. You know, semantics.
Requires:
-1 oz sugar
-½ oz Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
-½ oz Jose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequila
-½ oz Triple sec
-1 oz fresh lemon juice
-½ oz lime juice, freshly squeezed
-1 kiwi fruit, peeled
-crushed ice, to fill blender
Pour all ingredients into a blender, then top with crushed ice until the blender is full. Blend — don’t liquefy — the ingredients, then pour into a margarita glass and garnish with a lime wedge. Salt the rim if desired, and enjoy.
8. Mexican Martini
Also known as an Austin Margarita, this southern twist on the traditional martini is a step up from its humble country cousin, the White Trash Martini.
Requires:
-1 oz. Jose Cuervo Platino Tequila
-½ oz. Cointreau
-1 oz. Jose Cuervo Margarita Mix
-½ oz. lime juice
-½ oz. orange juice
-1 splash Sprite
-ice
-jalapeno stuffed olives
Measure the Cuervo, lime juice, orange juice, Cointreau, and ice into a shaker, then shake. Pour into a martini glass, garnish with stuffed olives, serve, and enjoy.
9. Beer-Garita
Ah, the good ol’ fashioned Beer-Garita — a staple of sports bars and dorm rooms nation-wide.
Requires:
-1 oz Jose Cuervo Especial Gold Tequila
-½ oz Triple sec
-1 oz lime juice
-1 12 oz bottle of beer
Setting the beer aside, mix all of the other ingredients in a blender with ice. Pour into a large glass, then add the beer over the top. Garnish with a slice of lime, serve, enjoy.
10. Mocha Margarita
The Mocha-Rita shares a few notes with the Chocolate Margarita above, but it boasts a swift kick to it that’s guaranteed to wake and shake you up.
Requires:
-1 ½ oz Jose Cuervo Especial Silver Tequila
-1 oz chocolate ice cream, softened
-⅓ oz prepared espresso
Combine all of the ingredients into a shaker, add ice, then shake until well chilled. Make sure that the ice cream is smooth and pourable, then serve in a chilled glass and enjoy.
