One Country Where Tony Blair Is Really Really Popular

The former Prime Minister doesn't get a very warm welcome in most countries. But in Kosovo, he's a national hero.

This is what greets Tony Blair when he appears in the UK...

And the former UK Prime Minister is met by anti-war protests all over the world, from South Africa...

    ...to Thailand.

But in at least one country he's still considered a national hero: Kosovo.

Here he is on a billboard in Prishtina, capital of the Balkan country.

...it's all because in 1999 he put together a military taskforce to stop the Yugoslav army ethnically cleansing the territory.

And Kosovans have never forgotten. This is how they greeted Blair on his last visit to the tiny country.

Here's the sign commemorating his honourary degree from the local university.

There's even streets named after him.

And some Kosovans have given their children the first name "Tonibler" in honour of the former Prime Minister.

Yup, that's "Tonibler" as a first name. Here's Tony Blair with a group of children named after him. Most of the kids are now 13 years old.

All of which helps explain why Blair prefers foreign visits to domestic UK politics.
