11 Of The Nicest Celebrities Ever

These celebrities don’t take their fame too seriously. They’re just like you and me. Jimmy Kimmel is finally moving to 11:35 on ABC! We’re celebrating with laughter, tears, and stories about celebrities just being all around nice people, in every way, big and small.

1. Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is known for being pretty down to earth in interviews, but it’s not just an act. When police received a call about an unconscious woman outside an apartment complex in Santa Monica, they probably didn’t expect to see JLaw at the woman’s side. She waited with the woman until the paramedics arrived.

2. Keanu Reeves

The stories are endless, but the best and most visual example is probably this impromptu capture of Reeves giving up his seat on the subway. He is the one.

3. Mila Kunis

Sgt. Scott Moore, a veteran from the war in Afghanistan, asked Kunis if she’d accompany him to the Marine Corps Ball in Greeneville, N.C., 2011. And she actually said yes. America.

4. Ryan Gosling

It turns out America’s sexiest man (by popular vote) is also America’s nicest man. Gosling took the time to break up a fight in Astor Place in New York City before it got too out of hand, something the average New Yorker would probably ignore.

5. Tom Hanks

There are also a ton of Tom Hanks nice guy meet and greet stories, but most recently, Hanks was cool enough to pose for a series of awesome impromptu photos with a fan in a pizza place. In the series, the fan pretends to be drunk, glasses askew, and slouched over — first on Hanks, and then face first into a pizza — while Hanks is pointing.

6. Ellen DeGeneres

Ellen DeGeneres can’t stop doing nice things on and off camera. Her show recently featured a down on their luck couple from Pleasanton, California who suffered an unexpected rent hike while expecting their second child, and were worried about providing for the new baby and affording their home at the same time. DeGeneres teamed up with Shutterfly.com to provide them with new decor for the baby and $25,000 in aid. And that was just on a normal day!

7. Steve Buscemi

Despite an impressive career working with nearly every great contemporary director, Buscemi is a really grounded dude. He worked as a firefighter before committing to his acting career, and after 9/11, he returned to his old company just to volunteer and help out at Ground Zero.

8. Lady Gaga

In case this photo of the singer visiting a slum in Rio de Janeiro isn’t enough, check this out. Gaga has always been a provider of vocal support for her “monsters,” but she’s doing one better this year. She recently announced that during the Born Brave tour pre-show the “Born Brave Bus” will be parked outside providing free “…access to professional private or group chats about mental health, depression, bullying, school & friends.” And it’s totally free. Lucy can take that 5 cent surcharge and shove it.

9. Dave Chappelle

One Redditor fondly recalls meeting Dave Chapelle after one of his late running shows. Dave invited the remaining members of the audience to play basketball the following afternoon, and rented out an entire gym for an hour. After the pickup game, Dave bought everyone fruit smoothies and gave them free tickets to his show the following night. Beat that, Oprah. (Just kidding Oprah. Don’t send the O-police to our house to o-rest us.)

10. George Takei

The original Sulu is well-known for taking his time at fan conventions to answer people’s questions as he signs autographs. He’s also got a massive online presence. He’s the master of trolling bullies, and he’s all about the little guy. One fan recalls him showing up two hours early for a scheduled press conference just to sign the doll of a young fan who was too sick to stick around to the scheduled time of the meet and greet. Oh, my!

11. Alison Brie

Amidst the stories of her taking photos with fans and being humble about her stardom, one recent act stood out — a panel attendee at the Paley Festival in LA shouted out that it was his birthday and asked for a kiss, and Brie obliged… much to the dismay of everyone who isn’t that guy.

We’re sorry to say Ellen took Kimmel’s spot on the list. In case you missed it, here’s why:
