11 Of The Funniest Musical Comedy Acts

These multi-talented comedians carry a tune or strum an instrument as well as they split sides. Jimmy Kimmel is finally moving to 11:35 on ABC! We're celebrating with laughter, tears, and painfully epic guitar solos.

1. Stephen Lynch

Lynch is known for his musical comedy parodying everything from pop culture to more controversial subjects, including his most famous song, the very, very, very irreverent "Special Olympics." He recently released his third studio album, Lion.

2. Jack Black and Kyle Gass

Tenacious D has been at it for what seems like forever. Despite their crass humor and silly demeanor, Gass is actually a pretty ridiculous guitar player. These two have both appeared in various movies (with Black being the obviously larger star) but together their rock stylings straddle the line between self-parody and actual, tangible rock and roll. You be the judge.

3. Sarah Silverman

Her comedy deals with social taboos -- sexism, religion, and racism -- and frequently toes the line between funny and just plain shocking. The music is pretty much the same deal.

4. "Weird" Al Yankovic

The king of musical parody basically has all but a patent on rewriting notable pop music, a muscle he's been exercising since the 70s. He's written parodies of songs by everyone from Queen, Michael Jackson and Madonna to (more recently) Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus on his latest album, Alpocalypse. It may be some of the most ham-fisted music ever created, but if you can't at least giggle at a four minute polka medley featuring the best pop songs of today, you probably don't laugh a whole lot. Cheer up, chuckles!

5. Russel Brand

Brand is so adept at embodying the parody rock star that he has a whole other persona (Aldous Snow) that has proliferated over several movies, has its own "band" (Infant Sorrow), and even a bunch of "hits."

6. Andy Samberg

Samberg got his start on YouTube with his buddies Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. Later they would form The Lonely Island, and Samberg would wind up bring their musical masterpieces to SNL's digital shorts, including the now seminal "Lazy Sunday" and the T-Pain parody, "I'm On A Boat" (which also featured, yeah, you guessed it, T-Pain). Samberg's musical proclivity, coupled with his status on SNL, earned him heaps of celebrity collaborators, including Jon Hamm, Lady Gaga, and Justin Timberlake.

7. Riki “Garfunkel” Lindhome and Kate “Oates” Micucci

Lindhome and Micucci have been making quirky videos satirizing about everything from sexuality to hot-button issues like gay marriage and medical marijuana (in song of course).

8. Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement

Bret and Jemaine first met at university in New Zealand in 1996, while both participating in a drama club production called Body Play. Soon after they formed a musical comedy act called Moustache, which almost morphed into 'Conchord' before finally becoming Flight of the Conchords, the band most people recognize from their (way too) short lived series on HBO.

9. Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin

Monty Python was one of the most prolific comedy troupes of all time, penning countless class sketches on Flying Circus, as well as countless songs about almost absolutely nothing (including one entirely consisting of the word "Spam"). Their sonic absurdity bled from TV into full albums, movies, and later, even a Broadway musical (Spamalot).

10. Reggie Watts

It's hard to tell wether or not to to take Reggie Watts seriously, because his musical prowess is incredibly legit. He uses vocal samples and loops to create beats behind his songs.

11. Jordan Raskopoulos, Lee Naimo and Benny Davis

This Australian trio got their start in improv at University in Sydney, but you probably know them as The Axis of Awesome. They're most famous for satirizing a variety of musical styles, including their infamous sprawling pop-music opus (see below).
