America experienced a bloody evening Saturday after shooters opened fire in two unrelated incidents at block parties in Detroit and Philadelphia.
In Detroit, one person was killed and nine more were injured when shots were fired into a crowd that was congregating on a basketball court.
The shooting left a 20-year-old man dead, according to WDIV. Six other men also were struck, including a 46-year-old man who was in critical condition, the Detroit Free Press reported.
The list of victims also included three women, ages 46, 30, and 26. About 400 people were attending the block party, WDIV reported.
Police had not arrested the shooter early Sunday morning.
In Philadelphia, seven people were injured when someone began firing "randomly" into a block party.
The victims — who were alive early Sunday — included an 18-month-old girl who was grazed in the neck, and an 11-year-old girl who was hit both in the knee and in the shoulder, NBC Philadelphia reported.
Other victims included a 13-year-old boy and several men in their 20s. The Associated Press reported that all the victims were hospitalized in critical condition.
Police said the shooter used a shotgun.
"It looks like they just randomly fired down the street and hit anyone in their way," Philadelphia Police Lt. John Walker told reporters.
The shooter in Philadelphia also had not been arrested by early Sunday morning.
