Five Dead In Arizona Home After "Family Dispute Gone Wrong"

Police on Thursday discovered five bodies after a standoff with a suspect who was barricaded in a Phoenix home. Witnesses reported hearing gunshots during the standoff.

Five adults died Thursday in Phoenix after a "family dispute gone wrong" led to a standoff with police.

The standoff began about 2 p.m. after police received a call from a woman who "had been able to escape the home" along with two children, KPHO reported.

"Our dispatcher could hear shots fired in the background while that call was coming in," Sgt. Trent Crump said.

Police told The Arizona Republic that the woman who fled said the situation began with a "family dispute gone wrong." Authorities believe the dispute may have stemmed from a family business.

During the standoff, police used a megaphone to talk to a suspect, and witnesses reportedly heard the sound of muted gunshots, the Republic reported.

Police: Five bodies, there men, two women, one believed to be the shooter inside a north #Phoenix home.

Police later found the bodies of five adults inside the home, the Associated Press reported. The investigation was ongoing Thursday night, but officials said it looked like a man shot his mother, his two brothers, and one of their wives. The man then apparently killed himself, police told KPHO.

Another woman reportedly hid in a bathroom and survived. The two surviving women are also wives of two of the brothers, according to KPHO, though it was not immediately clear who was married to whom.

Police did not immediately respond to BuzzFeed News' request for comment.
