RCMP Helps An Injured Eagle In Nova Scotia
RCMP member on his way to the office was flagged down by a motorist on the side of the highway in Baddeck. The man had hit an eagle that flew in front of his car while it was trying to pick a dead partridge off the road. DNR was immediately notified but the members stood roadside protecting the eagle. The Eagle became agitated by the torrential rains and used his wings to drag himself far in the woods on the side of a large ravine. Fearing the eagle may climb over the side the member took the eagle in his hands to protect it until DNR Wildlife Technician arrived. UPDATE- Sadly the Eagle did not survive.
We have just received an update on the status of the eagle that was rescued by our officer’s in Baddeck. Unfortunately, it is with great sadness that we are confirming the eagle did not make it. The eagle was checked out by a number of technicians and veterinarians but it could not be saved due to the extent of its injuries. Like all of you we wish it was better news and we are saddened by this.
When we posted this picture we had no idea the response it would receive.
