15 Reasons Why Elphaba Sets The Worst Example In Musical History

No one mourns the Wicked. Through their lives, our children learn, what we miss, when we misbehave. And Goodness knows the Wicked's lives are lonely. And yet, no good deed goes unpunished! *SPOILER ALERT*

1. She can't help being Green!

It's not her fault that her mom slept around and drank the green elixir. And yet, her family hates her!

2. Her roommate is the biggest bully in school.

Galinda is the Queen B. She is not only Elphaba's roommate, but absolutely loathes her with all other students. Just because she is green! That's plain racism.

3. Best friends with the Goat Professor

Doctor Dillamond is the only animal professor at the university.

He also suffers with bullying and someone even graffitied his board, though he's apparently a great teacher! So unfair!

So Elphaba wants to help him, but can't and they still destroy him.

4. This hat and you, you're both so...

It's party night! And as a gift, Glinda gives Elphaba a hideous hat to wear.

Just when she was coming to thank her for helping her sister.

Well, at the end of the party, they sort of become best friends.

5. She really thinks it's her fault her sister can't walk!

Now BFFs, when Elphaba exchanges secrets with Galinda, she tells her that her father hates her, because it's her fault her sister can't use her legs and her mother died at childbirth.

Just because HE worried about the new baby and forced the mother to chew milk flowers or whatever, which made the baby come too soon.

6. Trying to help the Cowardly Lion

So after they take Doctor Dillamond away, they bring a lion and say that if you keep animals caged, they won't learn to speak.

Elphaba throws a magical fit, kidnaps the lion and with the help of Fiyero sets it free in the wild.

This seems good, right? Yeah, the lion grows to fear her and becomes a super coward because of this.

7. Oh, this is Fiyero by the way!

Most handsome man in school, and yeah, even Elphaba falls for him.

But she has such a terribly low self-esteem, that she doesn't even try anything, she just lets him fall on Galinda's hands.

8. Welcome to the Emerald City!

So finally, something good happens in Elphaba's life!

She's invited to go to the Emerald City to meet the wizard, who will make her life better.

That's when she discovers he is a crook with no magic, who is destroying the land by catching every speaking animal!

9. So she defies everyone, even gravity!

The wizard government is so wrong that she defies it.

They make up lies about her defiance and for that she's now wanted and every single soldier in the kingdom is looking for her.

10. Sister gone evil!

So, after some time, Elphaba goes to her sister for help.

She is now the governor of the Munchkin state, after their father died with Elphaba's news as a fugitive.

But her sister, Nessa, is super bitter. She has made a Munchkin guy from school, Buck, her slave, just because she loves him. Elphaba tries to help with a spell for her to walk, but he simply doesn't like her, he loves Glinda. In her rage, Nessa gets a spell from the spell book and practically destroys Buck's heart. The only way Elphaba finds to save him is by transforming him into the tinman, to her sister's despair.

11. Fleeing from the Capital (again)

Elphaba goes back to the capital to try an agreement, but sees that things are worse than she thought. When she flees again, Fiyero comes with her! But that totally pissed Glinda, who tells the wizard to use Nessa to capture Elphaba.

Thus Nessa is killed, with a house over her head.

What an amazing best friend!

12. In Love = Wicked?

Elphaba finally has a shot at being happy with Fiyero, and it's not as if she's wrong for doing it, but for the first time she feels wicked.

And the house is flying to Nessa's doom.

13. Fiyero becomes the Scarecrow

Elphaba mourns Nessa's death, when she is circled by soldiers.

Fiyero comes to her rescue, but is captured and hurt.

Elphaba does transforms him into a scarecrow to save his life.

Though he loses his beautiful human form.

14. Elphaba melts!

Elphaba makes peace with Glinda and goes off to meet the soldiers.

That's when she melts and is gone, really not having accomplished anything to change the government.

But Glinda then does, which sort of makes everything good.

15. Finale

At the end, we still find out that the Wizard is Elphaba's father.

And yeah, he tried to capture her a bunch of times, even if he is a sentimental man who always wanted to be a father.

And of course, Elphaba finally learns to lie, survives and runs off with Fiyero.

So kids, what did we learn?

If we're good, we'll be punished by having everyone around us get killed.
Especially if we're ugly, that's for sure!
We're not even entitled to love, if we're ugly, that's wicked.

Nevertheless if we're bad and pretty, life will have a way to make us happy.

We'll always love being Wicked though, no matter what.
