The Kardashians Explain The Current Israel-Gaza Conflict

Sometimes things just get a little too cray cray.

On 12 June 2014, 3 Israeli teenagers were kidnapped as they were hitchhiking to their homes.The 3 teens were Naftali Fraenkel 16, Gilad Shaer 16, and Eyal Yifrah 19.

2 weeks later, they were found murdered in shallow graves. Israel blamed Hamas for the killings.

Hours after the funeral of the teens, a 16-year-old Palestinian teenager named Mohammed Abu Khdeir was also killed.

Six suspects in the have been arrested by the Israeli police.

The discovery of Khdeir's body led to protests and rioting in East Jerusalem.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an official apology and condolence to Khdeir's family.

The families of Naftali Fraenkel and Mohammad Abu Khdeir have unexpectedly been drawing comfort from each other. Fraenkel's uncle said "the life fn an Arab is equally precious to that of a Jew. Blood is blood and murder is murder, whether that murder is Jewish or Arab.”

At the same time, exchanges of Gaza-based rocket fire into Israel flared. More than 300 rockets were fired into Israel within 24 hours reaching as far as Tel Aviv.

So Israel called about 40,000 reservists back to the army. Due to the consistent rocket fire from Gaza into Israel, the Israeli government canceled all programs within 40 km of Gaza, and requested all people stay at home or near shelter.

All summer camps were closed and universities canceled their final exams.Additionally, all gatherings of 300 or more were banned. Including the upcoming Neil Young concert.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told the IDF to "take their gloves off" against Hamas and instructed them to take any means necessary to restore peace to Israeli citizens.

IDF continued their targeted retaliation, including the home of senior Hamas member Abdul Rahman Juda, who was using his home as a control and command center.

Additionally, the IDF targeted and killed Muhammad Sa'aban a commander of Hamas's naval commando unit. IDF also targeted the homes of Hamas members Eiad Sakik, Abdullah Hshash, Samer Abu Daka, and Hassan Abdullah.

The Palestinians have confirmed that all homes were called by the IDF prior to bombing, asking residents to please leave

By the end of the 3rd day, Israel announced that 144 rockets had been shot at Israel on Thursday and 442 since the operation started.

This rocket fire has resulted in injuries to 123 people. Israel had carried out almost 900 airstrikes on the Gaza strip, targeting Hamas weapons storage and places where rockets were being fired from. They continued to warn civilians via phone and dropping flyers to evacuate, although Hamas was advising them to stay in their homes telling them they were safe. This resulted in many more casualties.

On the other hand, Israel's counter-rocket defense system, the Iron Dome, intercepted most of the rockets that are heading to populated areas.

By protecting their citizens rather than hiding behind them, Israel has managed to save preserve human life on both sides.

A total of 637 truckloads, consisting of 14,069 tons of humanitarian aid, were transferred into the Gaza Strip from Israel via the various crossings.

The shipments consisted of hundreds of thousands of liters of fuel; 21 truckloads of milk formula and baby food; 897 tons of cooking gas, 66 truckloads of fruits and vegetables; 51 truckloads of wheat, 27 truckloads of meat, poultry and fish; 40 truckloads of dairy products; 117 truckloads of animal food; 37 truckloads of hygiene products; 22 truckloads of sugar; and 38 truckloads of clothing and shoes.

In addition, 781 medical patients the Gaza Strip crossed into Israel and the West Bank along with their chaperones for medical treatment. Into Gaza, meanwhile, went four truckloads of medicine and medical equipment.

After the first week of the operation, 3000 of the 9000 rockets in Gaza had been destroyed by Israel.

Additionally, 1050 rockets have been fired at Israel, leaving Gaza with approximately 5,000 more.

At the end of the 7th day, Egypt tried to negotiate a ceasefire that would start at effective 9am the next day.

Hamas said they would think about it.

During the night, for the first time during the operation, two rockets were fired at Eilat, from Egypt.

The next day Israel announced that they would accepting the ceasefire proposed by Egypt.

However Hamas officially rejected it and fired 40 rockets into Israel within the first 5 hours of the ceasefire.

About 6 hours after the continued firing of rockets into Israel from Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister said that they had not conducted one airstrike since the ceasefire went into effect.

Israel is hoping to end the operation and put an end to any further loss of human life from either side.

But, because of the continued rocket fire from Gaza, Israel said they would be renewing their strikes.

US Secretary of State John Kerry condemned Hamas militants on Tuesday for firing rockets from the Gaza Strip, after Israel had accepted a truce proposed by Egypt.

He said the international community strongly supported the need for a ceasefire, as there was "the potential of an even greater escalation of violence".

"We don't want to see that, nobody does... But Israel has the right to defend itself," Kerry said.

For now, both sides continue fighting. Many Israelis sit in shelters around the country and the innocent people of Gaza remain at the hands of the deadly Hamas terrorists.

Each side prays and waits for better days to come.
