A video from the archives at the University of California, San Diego shows the unique process of Theodor Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss, in creating his beloved children's books.
When designing the color scheme for his artwork, Seuss indicated the percentages of saturation for a color as well as the colors themselves.
Though the book only uses a few colors, the different shades bring out the full dimensions of the cartoon.
He had very specific thoughts about the colors for his imaginary worlds, including for the bones in his famous green ham.
According to the video, the concept for Green Eggs and Ham started as a dare for Dr. Seuss to write a whole book using only 50 individual words.
The iconic rhyme schemes for Dr. Seuss's work often started with just a few words, in what he referred to as the 'bone pile."
