Jerch 3 months agoSo Drag Race. I have tried to review/recap the show. It is possible but incredibly complicated. I’ll tell you why. RuPaul’s Drag Race is the ultimate reality competition show. Ever. It is the absolute apex of the genre. It is self-aware, self-deprecating, low-budget, and high-concept. It is an endless loop of entertainment. It stars wannabe performers striving to gain recognition through/in spite of a persona that they have — by definition of this sub-culture — blatantly invented, often from humble beginnings. It is America’s melting frock. And of course, we are guided by the implacable RuPaul hiserself. We will never be able to fully appreciate hiser/hiser writers’ ability to punnily craft. The show’s producers and editors deserve special mention, to say the least. Lastly, and in closing, CamAROOn!
