This data is based on the findings of Amnesty International's most recent study, in 2013.

According to this report, "Since 2009 Amnesty International stopped publishing its estimates on the use of the death penalty in China, where such data is considered a state secret." In countries where there is political instability, including as Egypt, Malaysia, North Korea, and Syria, access to accurate numbers is limited.
