jenjen01 3 months agoWell tips are “gratuity “!!! I have to ask why should people get more than what we give God??? Just saying!!! She left a cash tip on the table that the waitress “forgot to mention. I never tip on my cards always use cash because i don’t like my card being ran again especially when it’s not in front of me. I don’t see the big fuss over what the pastor did. I do however disagree with a credit card receipt being photo graphed and going on the internet. She should lose her job!!!

gennyb2 3 months agoNewflash braniac - they don’t run your card again, they just adjust the total. CLEARLY you have never worked in the service industry in any capacity so what even gives you the right to comment on this? Oh and last time I checked, I don’t think they take American currency in heaven, so you can probably keep your 10% in your pocket. And shut your mouth while you’re at it.

hilaryc4 3 months agorichardp22, you are about as ridiculous as the pastor. Stop trying to play Google Lawyer. You sound like straight up moron. The pastor stiffed her and signed her name to the slip. Even google lawyers like yourself should know that TRUTH is an complete defense to slander. So if anyone slandered, it was the cheapskate pastor slandering herself. Chelsea posted the truth, and her employer is attempting to stifle her First Amendment rights. I hope she sues Applebees.

hilaryc4 3 months agoGod you know NOTHING about the law. At all. How is posting a credit card authorization slip slander?? First of all, it’s the pastor’s very own words. So if it’s slander, the dumb bitch pastor slandered her damn self. Second of all, there’s no expectation of privacy on a credit card authorization slip that you fill out in public, sign your name to, and leave on a public table for someone else to take. You should get yourself a lawyer so they can help you learn how to look up the very basic elements of defamation on Wikipedia, richardp22.

richardp22 3 months agoFor the record, the pastor claims she left a $6 tip in cash on the table, and hence why she crossed it off. It appears she was accused of something she didn’t do, and her personal information (name) was put out publicly. This pastor actually has a potential slander suit (reputation diminished based on release of name and false accusations), especially considering the harassment people are giving her. This waitress might consider getting an attorney before she keeps posting on reddit.

Kyle Hayward 3 months agoFlickMontana - YES! I’ve been saying the same thing for YEARS! Additionally, the pastor is still a moron, because a credit card is only run once at a restaurant, whether you tip or not. When the server takes the card and runs it, it is automatically authorized for twenty percent more than what the total is, to account for the tip the patron is expected to leave. That charge is not finalized until after the server has collected the signed copy of the receipt from the customer and closed out the ticket. The only amount charged to the card is dependent on what the customer decides to tip, whether that amount is higher or lower than what was authorized. Mind you, the server returns the card after they run it the one time and that is the final time the card exchanges hands. The woman is just an asshole, plain and simple.

FlickMontana 3 months agoEveryone should have to wait tables full time for one year. Builds character.

tammyl 3 months agoYou are also a jerk. Try waiting tables for a week; you will quickly change your tune. It was also printed in the menu that 18% gratuity would be added for parties of 8 or more. What she did was stealing, even if she did leave a 10% tip on the table. If she had a problem with the restaurant’s policy, she should have taken it up with management instead of using God as an excuse.

Branyn Bollman 3 months agoPs, there’s no “10%” rule in the Bible for tithing anyways, so your argument that we shouldn’t tip people based on that alone is pretty dumb. Oh, and maybe cut down on the exclamation points a bit. I can comprehend what you’re saying just fine without them :)

Branyn Bollman 3 months agoThis is the stupidest piece of shit I’ve read today. Seriously? For one thing, you’re card isn’t “run again”, and for another thing, the “pastor” was a complete bitch to even scrawl the words she did across her receipt. If you think that’s how people should be treated who wait on you, then please do us all a favor and never eat out again.

Jenny 3 months agoYou have clearly never worked as a waitress or in customer service, and have probably never had to serve 20 people. It’s a lot of work, and many waitresses/waiters/bartenders/etc have to rely on tips because they don’t get, or only get minimum wage (at least in my state, since it’s a tipping job restaurants are able to factor in potential tips while setting the wages). As for the photograph, it doesn’t include credit card information, so what’s the big deal? I’m glad she called out someone so (literally and morally) cheap as to try and use God as a reason not to tip someone for a job well done.

melissaj7 3 months agoYou are being an idiot if you think she should lose her job over this. The pastor is being a cheap ass.
