  • Originally a Response to PETA Kills Animals:

Y'see, they're not required to report animals turned over to them for the purpose of humane euthanasia, so their “why we kill” explanation is complete bullshit. They're required by the state to report animals turned over to them FOR THE PURPOSE OF ADOPTION, which is the paperwork they have to file with the state of VA every year, which is where these numbers come from. PETA is, quite simply, lying. A 95% kill rate puts them among the worst shelters in the nation. Any shelter would euthanize an animal so badly wounded it was in agony with no chance of recovery - that's not newsworthy. When you're claiming that 95% of your intake falls into that category, that's… bullshit. Best analysis of the numbers here.

  • Originally a Response to PETA Kills Animals:

Just because the CCF has an agenda doesn't mean their numbers are wrong - they're correct and easily verifiable, as PETA is required by the state of VA to report their kill numbers and that database is publicly accessible. Many of us have verified the numbers. The best analysis is at:

  • Response to No, that's not abuse. Certain small terriers:

Sure, that's what terriers used to be bred for. When was the last time you think that dog saw a badger? Or his father, or his father's father for that matter? Show dogs are bred for looks. His tail could be as strong as a strand of overcooked spaghetti as long as he meets the standards of conformation (appearance), which is mostly what the AKC cares about. To treat a show dog that way seems abusive to me.
