I’m so proud of Obama finally coming out and officially supporting marriage equality. Some people will chastise him for not doing it sooner, but at least he has the potential to learn from his mistakes, and the courage to admit when he’s wrong. That’s much better than stubbornly choosing to go down the wrong path for fear of being labeled a “flip-flopper.” Some people may say he’s just making this announcement in order to “play politics.” However, judging by the way North Carolina voted on Amendment 1, if he were truly playing politics, he would have done better to wait until after the election to make this announcement. I think the timing of this actually supports the argument that he’s NOT playing politics, and simply standing for what is right (even if it’s not popular.)
