The Latin isn't actually that hard. I took Latin in HS and still remember how to answer those.

The Greek and Latin parts look hard because they not part of modern curricula. But the math parts were at most high school level. I mean, arithmetic in college?

I laughed, but then I looked up some nineteenth century law exams and they were the EXACT SAME AS WHAT I WAS STUDYING.

The math portions of this would be horrendous…this is pre-calculator, remember? I think we have all been dumbed down when it comes to math because we never have had to handwork basic calculations.

Nerd Alert: I think the closest to 'Fuck This' might be the Latin perfututum lit. 'totally fucked.' Latin nerds, back me up on this.

hmmm…I imagine that before the internet all this knowledge was much harder to obtain and valued more.

I don't know, it doesn't seem like it'd be very difficult for someone who went to class and studied. Try taking the exam for any class you haven't actually taken, and it'd seem pretty tough.

Eh, the Greek and Latin may seem intimidating because it's not standard course work anymore. Maybe we take Spanish or French instead — and there are translation and grammar components on those exams. Likewise, we don't emphasize ancient/classical history in the United States, but the questions don't seem THAT out there considering these students would have had a class on this material before taking this exam. Or maybe they'd be told to study a particular book. As for the math, looks like it's middle or high school level stuff. Or at least, in my experience it is. And I went to a public school. Anyway, this is an admissions exam. Think of it as a mid-19th century version of an SAT.
