A third party won’t happen and wouldn’t solve anything: if we had a parliamentary system of government we’d have tons of parties because offices would be awarded based on the percentages of the votes they got. Our system is winner-take-all, though, so the smart thing is to consolidate power into two parties so third party candidates don’t weaken the vote. What we NEED is a mobilized and motivated public to vote out the incumbents; something like 90% of the time they keep their seat. Get new people in office, kick out the old guard, and you send the message that Americans are done taking their shit sitting down. That’ll force them to accommodate US, their constituency, to stay in power.
