snowflakechewy a year agoNot only do higher-income taxpayers pay more total dollars in taxes, but they pay about twice the percentage of their incomes in taxes than do lower-income households.
Data from both the Tax Foundation and New York Times show that the top 20 percent of taxpayers pay about 33 percent to 35 percent of their incomes in taxes. In contrast, the taxpayers in the bottom 20 percent pay an average of only 13 percent to 17 percent of their incomes in all taxes. http://www.startribune.com/opinion/otherviews/126863123.html Basically, its not enought that the rich who made their owns lives pay double the percent of the middle class, but now, it’s apparently immoral to have a lot of money, no matter how large the percent is that you give away. Also, if you care so much, then become a senator or representative. Please don’t call gay marriage an unimportant issue when this issue could be unimportant based on opinon. Just like you think gay marriage is unimportant, i think unnecessary class-warfare is unimportant.

deaddrift a year agoA couple of points: First, your numbers are bullshit. Second, if your morality is based on the idea that “the rich… made their owns lives” then I assume you have no problem with high estate taxes, right? Fair is fair, after all.

Match Day5 a year agoWow. Just wow. An OPINION piece by an extremely conservative think tank? Great evidence. That piece is talking about the rates that would be paid if people ACTUALLY paid taxes, but that’s the point: the rich don’t pay taxes! They do everything they can to avoid taxes. They’ll get paid a token minimum salary and the rest (or all) in stock which is taxed at a lower rate, they’ll differ dividends to laters dates, they’ll establish residences overseas, etc. Turn off Fox News and start using your brain!!!!!
