11 Famous Beefs

Why can’t we all just get along? These famous beefs will definitely find a place in history. Brought to you by the only beef you’d want to have with anyone, Jack Link’s Beef Jerky.

When Kid Rock, who was briefly married to Pamela Anderson, ran into her famous ex, Tommy Lee, at the 2007 MTV VMAs, things got pretty heated. The famous rockers exchanged punches at the venue, officially becoming the runners-up for “Biggest Boobs” in Pamela Anderson’s life.

2. The Original Political Beef: Aaron Burr vs. Alexander Hamilton

The feud between Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton and Vice President Aaron Burr had been going on for years when they decided to finally settle it with a good ol’ gun duel in 1804. Burr shot Hamilton who died the following day. An anti-dueling law was passed quickly after, marking the second time that Hamilton wasn’t quick enough to save his own life.

3. The West Coast / East Coast Beef: Tupac vs. Biggie Smalls

The East Coast/West Coast hip hop rivalry of the 1990s had two labels at its core: Bad Boy Records in the East, and Death Row Records in the West. Tupac and Biggie waged a battle of the words in several of their tracks and interviews, all of which ended when both were shot to death by unknown assailants in 1996 and 1997 respectively.

4. The Disney Star Beef: Lindsay Lohan vs. Hilary Duff

The beef between the two teen queens of Disney began when they both dated “singer” Aaron Carter at the same time. The feud died along with Aaron Carter’s career… about three days later.

5. The Brotherly Beef: Liam Gallagher vs. Noel Gallagher

It was no secret that brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher did not get along in the almost two decades that Oasis was a band, but things haven’t changed much since Noel quit in 2009. This past month Liam addressed his long-running feud with his brother in an interview with The Australian saying, “We’ve had some great times together and some sh*t times apart, but we split for a reason.” Sounds like dinner at the Gallagher’s might be awkward.

6. The Baseball Beef: Yankees vs. Red Sox

If you live on the East Coast, or follow professional baseball at all, then you’re no stranger to one of the greatest rivalries in the sport. Amazingly enough, the beef between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox goes all the way back to their first game in 1901, and shows no sign of dying down. This beef is our second favorite beef when it comes to baseball…right after ballpark franks.

7. The Late Night Television Beef: Jay Leno vs. David Letterman

David Letterman and Jay Leno have been going head to head in the same time slot for over two decades, ever since Leno took over for Johnny Carson in 1992. Both hosts have continued to deliver jabs at each other in their opening monologues ever since. If the two ever wanted to reconcile, Letterman could just apologize to Leno. It worked for him with his wife…

8. The Female Rappers From NYC Beef: Lil’ Kim vs. Nicki Minaj

Though Nicki Minaj has made some efforts to clear up the beef she had with Lil’ Kim, the diss tracks the two women have put out in recent years like Minaj’s “Tragedy” (“It must hurt to sell your album off PayPal”) and Kim’s “Black Friday” (“I’m turning Pink Friday to Friday the 13th”) would have us think otherwise.

9. The British Boy Band Beef: One Direction vs. The Wanted

The beef that has tween girls around the world taking sides started with quiet digs on both bands’ behalf. The feud was made official when One Direction’s Zayn Malik called The Wanted’s Max George a clown and a geek on Twitter. George fueled the fire when he told The Mirror in an interview that if Zayn has an issue with him, he can come confront him face to face in New York. Ding ding ding! Round 1!

10. The Judgey Judges Beef: Simon Cowell vs. Cheryl Cole

Simon Cowell and Cheryl Cole go way back to their days co-judging on Cowell’s hit UK series The X-Factor. When Cowell brought the show to the US, he brought his buddy Cheryl with him hoping to make America fall in love with her. After only one episode, Cowell decided that Cole’s charm didn’t translate in the US and that the change in environment made her come off “bewildered.” Cowell replaced Cole with Nicole Scherzinger, burning the bridge that Cheryl used to cross back over the pond.

11. The Supermodel Beef: Naomi Campbell vs. Tyra Banks

While neither supermodel has ever publicly adressed this feud, or tried to trip the other on the runway… rumors have been circulating for ages that Naomi was envious of Tyra’s quick rise to fame. This year the gossip behind the catwalk was that Tyra saw Naomi’s new show The Face as a knockoff of her successful modeling series, American’s Next Top Model. Regardless if the show is a knockoff or not, the true winner of this beef is the first supermodel to knock the smize off the other’s face. Just kidding ladies, save the drama for the runway.
