Ah, Downton Abbey, we’ve missed you. Despite the fact that you broke our hearts last year, not once but twice, we’re eager to return to your well-appointed rooms for another season of drama, romance, and — more than likely — more heartbreak than is healthy for the average viewer. (For more on what the cast of Downton Abbey told BuzzFeed about Season 4, look no further.)
While the trailer for Season 4 contains very little dialogue — it’s set to Welsh band The Joy Formidable’s “The Turnaround” (from their 2013 album, Wolf’s Law) and features but three lines, an exchange between Maggie Smith’s formidable Dowager Countess and Michelle Dockery’s deep in mourning Lady Mary… and one from Lily James’ Lady Rose MacClare, welcoming us to Downton — it’s overflowing with evocative teases about what the new season of Downton will bring: so many tears, some beautiful dances, fighting, lots of tea drinking, and so many pointed looks.
Downton Abbey will return to ITV on September 22 at 9 p.m. and to PBS’ Masterpiece Classic on Jan. 5, 2014.
