Ahhh…Webvan…I got to attend the auction of their HQ in Foster City. It was the perfect picture of dot.com insanity. Their cubicles alone cost $5-10k each. Aeron chairs for everyone. Hand carved wood desk for the CEO. Absolutely insane. I won't forget the worried faces of the people who they owed money too (a printer, caterer, electrician..just regular folks) asking the auction people about when they would get paid..or if they would. None of them knew the CEO had just walked out with over $300k in 'severance' pay. It was sad and disgusting.
