Goats, Emus, And Ibex, Oh My! All The Animals You Can Meet In Israel!

There are more than enough camels in Israel to get you through Hump Day, but did you know all the other animals you may find?

    1. Israel is home to more than 47,000 living species including 116 species of mammals and 511 kinds of birds. With more than 200 nature reserves and zoos, you can find one wherever you are in Israel. At a nature reserve in Tzfat, you can hang out with emus!

    2. At Shvil HaSalat, a farm in the Negev Desert, you may have a chance to hold and release a homing pigeon, the type of pigeon that is used to carry messages around the world!

    3. In the Negev, you can go from the desert to a lush waterfall in a short drive. Be sure to keep your eyes on the lookout for a Nubian Ibex!

    4. The goats at Naot Farm in Mitzpe Ramon are always looking for someone to visit them! At the Naot Farm Dairy, sample some of the goat cheese, produced from the herd's milk.

    5. Also at the Naot Farm, the sheep love to be picked up. Give them a hug!

    6. While visiting Ein Gedi to see the waterfalls, there is more to see than just the water! Look up on the hilltops where you might be lucky enough to spot a multitude of animals!

    7. And, of course, you'll have an opportunity to ride a camel. The hardest question you'll have all day is what to name your camel.
