      I find this terribly unrealistic. How would we stop everything that might make people mad or cause mental illness? Ban loveless marriages, and divorces too? Ban criminal activity? Solve mental illness? How exactly do you propose we do that? No, we can not solve those things, only mitigate them. There will always be people who want to hurt others. But we can pass laws that make it harder for bad people to acquire weapons. The NRA and friends have hamstrung the ability of law enforcement to track/prevent gun sales and enforce gun laws. They have fought against laws that, for example, would require locking guns in a safe. That would have prevented this whole tragedy.
