People Are Not Happy About Cory Gardner Signing The Iran Letter

Hundreds of people took to Senator Cory Gardner's official Facebook page to comment on his signing of the Iran letter. The majority of them were not happy. Not happy at all.

I'm a republican and a combat vet. You are my representative and no deal ensures Iran will move forward enriching uranium immediately. Even a bad deal would delay those ambitions significantly. Iran is not to be trusted, but your politic stance all but ensure another armed conflict. We tried these hard line tactic under President Bush and they have done nothing to force Iran to negotiate and freed them to pursue enrichment. If you want my vote next election, you'll give this deal a chance.

Beyond partisan

No matter which party was in the majority in either house of Congress, and no matter who was president, this great nation always respected its boundaries as the limit for partisanship, and cleaned its dirty laundry in the laundry room ... not on the world's stage. This behavior by the Senate is beyond partisan.

Use your majority to actually accomplish something

You know that goal the GOP had of making Obama a 1 term President? It didn't seem to matter the cause, if the President was for it, GOP said no. Well, it didn't work. Please, stop your obstruction and use your majority to actually accomplish something - besides trying to derail everything that might be considered a success for Obama. Start leading or you will certainly be a 1 term Senator.

I strongly condemn your signing of the letter to Iran. What a pitiful start to your term as senator from Colorado. As an independent I expected you to conduct yourself with honor while representing Colorado. Continued bashing, obstruction and disrespect for the president is shameful. Do you not understand separation of power in our three branches of government? Read up on your role as a US Senator and stop undermining the executive branch. You were elected to be a problem solver not a problem creator.

I am deeply disturbed by your and the other 46 Senators’ actions yesterday in sabotaging foreign relations in violation of U.S. law and International Law. You are setting very bad precedent. Further, you are making a mockery of the U.S. on the world platform. Work within legal and ethical boundaries to do what you think your constituents want, but don't go outside the law and don't make a mockery of this country. You are sidelining us and it is doing no one any good. It is creating huge danger for U.S. and world citizens on a variety of levels.

I'm not going to shout treason, because it is your right to write and sign this letter even though it weaken the United States and inflames conflict. I am going to say that writing this letter is ghastly short-sighted. Diplomatic negotiations cannot please everyone, let alone people that don't even come to the table. To demand that half of the United States Senate be given more consideration than five nations, the Iran government, and the executive branch is beyond insane. If you want something to come out of negotiations, then try to achieve that through negotiations. If you want to attack Iran, control Iran, control the world.... then your sense of power and your sense of what is right is out of proportion. If you think that talking will never work, then of course war will always result. That's what happens when you settle your differences without talking. There is no reason for you to undermine another's attempt, let alone the attempts of seven major powers because of your own views. This is bigger than you, believe it or not. Fortunately, you do have your own power, so when the results of negotiations are brought to the Senate, you can then try to work out your own version of how you and the rest of the world can mange to coexist. If you keep wanting to threaten and control the rest of the world as you see fit, it may not even harm you now.... but eventually our future will be swallowed up by the results of endless reliance on fear, force and noncooperation. Death, debt, enmity, estrangement, stagnation, fear, instability, and weakness. Because, yes, building is hard and slow to yield benefit, and hope is so much less appealing than fear. But that is the world I want to live in. Kindly let people with different views than yours continue to work toward their futures even when you don't agree with it completely. It's an important part of being civilized and living in a world full of people with different views.

This kind of behavior always has been, and still is, unacceptable.

Cory, don't you understand that this move undermines the status of the US as a superpower. What are you thinking? Do you really want a weakened Presidency with regard to foreign policy.
