  • Amy Williams, Britain’s Skeleton Gold Medalist

Amy Williams just won Britain’s first individual Winter Olympics gold medal in 30 years, with a win in the women’s skeleton. Not only that, but she’s also a total hottie.

  • Ben Koons’ Blood Too “Clean” To Compete

Skier and Maine native Ben Koons was temporarily suspended from the Olympics because his blood tested too clean. It’s a complicated thing about naturally high hemoglobin levels and other medical-sciencey-stuff, and now he’s just drinking tons of salt water to bring down the levels so he can start competing. Let’s show solidarity with Ben by looking at him in his full adorableness:

    • While from Maine, he skis for New Zealand

Perhaps this means he sounds like a cross between the Flight of the Conchords and a lobsterman.

  • Alexandre Bilodeau

Yesterday Canadian Alexandre Bilodeau won a gold medal in men’s mogul skiing. This was Canada’s first home gold, and if we’ve learned anything from Bob Costas, that’s like a really big deal.

    • Almost as big of a deal as that one time in Anne of Green Gables where the Prime Minister visited and Mirilla went to see him and she waved some sort of English/Canadian flag (look at how well I relate to you, Canadians!). Bilodeau dedicated his win to his brother Frédéric, who has cerebral palsy. He credits Frédéric's spirit as one of his main inspirations. So, there's that whole nice guy thing happening as well. • Dale Begg-Smith

Here’s a fun Olympic storyline for you: a Canadian-turned-Australian moguls skier who runs a spyware company on the side. He is reviled by basically everyone (except female fans who enjoy a bad boy in a Lamborghini), but he is worth $40 million and has two Olympic medals, so he probably doesn’t care.

  • Johnny Spillane

Johnny Spillane just won the first-ever US medal in the Nordic Combined. I don’t really know what the Nordic Combined is, but I do know that Johnny Spillane has the combination TO MY HEART.

    • 1. Johnny has a really big.... set of skis.

  • Olympic Where Are They Now: Dominique Moceanu

Listen, I know gymnastics isn’t a Winter sport, but this picture still seemed both relevant and “whoa.” Dominique was also a personal favorite of Jack’s.
