1. First, watch the opening
You can stop around the 4:00 mark
2. Next, hit play
I hate when articles have music, but the soundtrack really sets the mood for the game. Just listen to the entire soundtrack while you’re at it
3. Heard of DMA Deign?
They made SSSV. Today they go by Rockstar North and they spend a lot of time working on a franchise called “Grand Theft Auto”
4. SSSV is sort of like the child-friendly science-fiction precursor to 3D GTA games
It’s set in the year 3001. You are the robot/microchip EVO and you have to kill cyborg animals then take over their bodies to save Earth from being destroyed by a rogue space station!
5. Just look at the animals!
How many games have you played that have bears that ARE unicycles, foxes with flames coming out of their butts and wheels for feet, or “dogfighters*”?
*dogs merged with planes
6. Even the animal info is cool!
I feel like I’m in The Matrix during these
(Yes, that is a tank tortoise)
10. Danger Dan is sassy
11. And lazy
Ugh. DD, GET YOUR OWN CARROTS!
12. OK, he’s actually just an incompetent jerk who thinks he can dance
13. This game has everything!
Action, love, comedy. What more could one want?
14. KaBOOM! Take that, computer!
I can’t get past this level….
15. Roger and Flossy 5ever!
Icons for interspecies love
16. Contagious laughter!?
HAHAHAHA So hilarious…..
18. The fanbase may be small, but there are still tributes
Fun fact- The live version of this song has about 150K views; the number of SSSV cartridges sold.
19. This game is really hard
I’ve had this game for probably over 13 years. I’m barely half way done. I’m not the best gamer, but this was really the only game I played from when ever I got it (‘99 or ‘00) to the launch of the DS (2004) and I’ve played it multiple times since then. Generally, games get easier as you get older because you’re not an idiot 10 year old anymore, but not this one! It has glitches and bad camera angles that make it incredibly difficult to finish the level, but even with those things fixed the levels would still be genuinely hard which is why this game holds such a dear place in my heart.
20. Bottom line- Space Station Silicon Valley needs a remake
Or a sequel. Both are good.
