Wow, what a controversial topic. Sterilization is a bit too extreme, but if the person chooses that over other options, why not? I'm assuming they have the option to choose which method they would like (according to robopanda's post.) I think the birth control aspect is a good idea. It can be stopped when the person wants it to stop. It doesn't have to last forever. I do not have personal experience with family cases like these, but I do worry for the people who indeed are drug addicts and have unwanted children. The children are being born with all the short straws. Impairments, disabilities, addictions that they shouldn't have to live with. However, it is clear that the drug addicted parents do not always have proper, good judgement all the time. I think the slippery slope is the “incentive” of cash. I just feel people might just take the money to buy more crack! What if the cash was taken out, and free birth control was just something that they offered (not mandated)? I think the way the founder of the organization says it in a way that would rub people the wrong way, per se. Ultimately, I think the motivation was intended to produce good. I don't think it is the organization's problem that they have to “rehabilitate people.” They simply want to offer these birth control methods. Sure, rehab sounds great! Then why aren't all drug addicts on it? Because it's not a free resource. Human resources, money, time, etc. You have to be realistic, people who keep insisting that this is “messed up” and that they should help them get better instead. That is not their goal. I'm not 100% familiar with the goals of this company, but I'm guessing that it is in more of the interest of the future children being born than helping these drug addicts get better. There are people that already do that. Rehab clinics? Yeah, they already exist. But these drug addicts made the CHOICE to not go to those. It was also a CHOICE for them to start using drugs. This will also be a CHOICE that they can make. Remember that it is not mandated in any way- in no way are people being FORCED to be sterilized. With proper regulation, the org can do some good in the world. I think that a lot of people don't look at arguments rationally. They just jump to blah blah rights blah blah. People make their own choices about how to live their lives. It was their choice to start taking drugs in the first place. And society has to live with the consequences. Do people think drug addicts make good parents? Even regular sober people have trouble being good parents, without drugs involved. It's unfair to the children born into the world to be burdened with terrible parents and disabilities. And what do people think happen really? The thought process behind these people's actions? “Oh.. I'm so high… I'm going to actively go over to that clinic and get birth control… I'm such a rebel..!! Being somewhat responsible!!” (And in this case, I took out the slippery slope of a cash incentive.) And let's imagine in a week's time. “Oh no, I accidentally went over to that clinic and signed some forms to get birth control. What a mistake.” Sure, add some sort of waiting period or soberization test or what have you. Birth control kinda stops working when you stop using it. It's kind of an active process. So if they wanted to have kids sometime in the future? Stop taking the birth control? Wow, what a concept. Making choices. It's not that crazy of an idea to me. Do people realize a lot of people take birth control anyways? Not just drug addicts? That's just my opinion though.

“Let's put a burger in a burger” But I suppose a lot of these are sandwiches/burgers in sandwiches/burgers…
Isn't she that ho that had some illegitimate kid in her teens? I don't think she should be talking about any sort of teaching family values. It'd be better if kids grew up being open minded rather than having kids in high school. Just sayin'.
omg This is BRILLIANT.
I want to vomit.
Oh my. This is the most dapper protest I've ever seen!
All I can think of is, Bonnie what are you doing! This feels so wrong!
I want a bubble party!
What an organized sociopath..
