• Sleepy Pug

This pug puppy can't keep his eyes open. [Jack's note: Maybe he's trying to watch last week's England/Algeria game.]

  • NYC Subway Compasses

Culture Buzz An anonymous group has sprayed compass roses outside the entrances of NYC subway stations to help people get their bearings when they come up from underground. How has this not been standard at stations before now?

You don't understand how helpful this is! I'll have to keep an eye out for them!

  • Gen. Stanley McChrystal Got Fired

Politics Buzz Update: Obama has officially fired the top general in Afghanistan after his bitchy Rolling Stone interview. Here is a PDF of the article, and here is a quote to set the tone: “'Who’s he going to dinner with?' I ask one of his aides. 'Some French minister,' the aide tells me. 'It’s fucking gay.'” Also, he calls Joe Biden “Bite Me.”

  • 10 Completely Understandable Phobias

Culture Buzz So everyone seems to post about weird phobias that make us laugh. What about phobias that we can completely understand and sympathize with?

    • Achluophobia- Fear of darkness.

The dark is pretty scary. Not only does it limit your vision so you might walk into things, but you really don't know what's out there. Also, ominous things seem to happen whenever it's dark out. There could be monsters or possums or something out there.

  • Gabby Sidibe’s Mom On America’s Got Talent

Somewhat-known fun fact: Gabourey Sidibe (of Precious)'s mom, Alice Tan Ridley, has been a subway singer for 20 years. She finally made it to reality TV, and I must say, it's enjoyable. (They really edit these shows for maximum feelings.)

  • Subtle Keanu

It's OK, Sad Keanu. I didn't like the new Katy Perry music video either.

  • Heathers the Musical

Movie Buzz Well fuck me gently with a chainsaw! Heathers, the cult classic film that featured some of the most quotable moments from the late 80s/early 90s, is coming to a theater near you…again….AS A MUSICAL. Drinking Drano? Murder disguised as Romeo-and-Juliet-style gay suicide? I have a feeling it will translate perfectly.

Bringing me back to my youth...
  • How To Swear In English

Even though I am already a fluent English swearer (maybe because!), I thoroughly enjoyed this cursing lesson. Also, question for you bilinguals: is the Korean equivalent of “sick” (as in “sick party, brah”) really “pickled?” I am in the market for some new hip lingo.

Hope my kids don't see this but it's funny!
  • Sofia Coppola’s ‘Somewhere’ Trailer

Finally, the first trailer for Sofia's new movie, starring Stephen Dorff and Dakota Fanning's little sister. With the Phoenix and the hotel pool and the ineffective stripping and the melancholy, it's like we never left Lost In Translation. (Not complaining.)

Can not wait to see this!
  • USA Vs. England: LEGO Edition

For those of us with small attention spans (and a soft spot for LEGOs) here's the 1-1 showdown of the USA versus England in the 2010 World Cup. [Ed. Note: All that's missing is the hair gel.]

    Too cute!
