feistychick 3 months agoThis director is an asshole. First of all, I’m sick of people complaining about her name. A simple Google search will help you out, and just because her name isn’t plain and boring, doesn’t mean we should be rude to her. Second of all, what kind of ignoramus doesn’t vote for someone based on their name? Third of all, does he expect a 6 year old’s performance to be mature? What is this “her performance was immature” bullshit? Fuck him. They should have released his name.

gks 3 months agoMaybe he’s a throwback to Old Hollywood…. back then the Studio gave you your name, your backstory, and your romantic partner. Even in the modern era, television reporters change their names to fit the genre. Lastly, his opinion on her performance is absolutely accurate if that is how he feels. There have been plenty of child actors who have been on the scene for SO LONG that they’ve had all youthfulness zapped out of them. They DON’T give immature performances (though their childhoods often suffer for it.) Maybe that’s what he was comparing Wallis to.

Aaron C. 3 months agoSome asshat in the NY Post had their picks yesterday. They picked Emmanuelle Riva mainly because their 86 and she doesn’t have a lot of time left. Said Jessica Chastain is so good she’ll get another several chances down the road. And wouldn’t pick Lawrence based on a silly SNL sketch. This is just sickening. The show is just one big fixed circlejerk of jealously and elitism.

gophermachine 3 months agoTo be honest though, Emmanuelle Riva had the most emotionally riveting performance of all of these nominees. Not to mention the SNL sketch is not the only time Lawrence has acted kind of mean (via losing at the BAFTAs to Riva)
