What Happens When Uber Drivers In Pakistan Have Your Digits
I recently went to Pakistan this past December after 4 or 5 years, on a trip for which most Pakistani Americans, love to embark on...wedding shopping! I happily endured the brutal 14 hour flight back to the homeland so I can plan for my big fat Pakistani wedding. I was thrilled to see that Pakistan, a country who has been struggling to develop for the last 70 years finally caught up with America! Well, in modes of transportation that is, Pakistan had Uber! I thought that was the coolest thing ever, and I felt so proud. However, I came to the realization soon enough, when I realized that Uber drivers have access to your number, and I was worried that this was a privileged that they'd abuse. Fast forward 5 months later, I am happily married and living with my brand new husband in Los Angeles. I get a whatsapp message from an unknown number, low and behold, it's one of my uber drivers checking up on me! He explains that he just wanted to ask me how my marriage is going, because he remembers that I came to Lahore to shop for my wedding. He then proceeds to call me, to triple check.
