Lefties Are Not Happy About The Apple Watch

Lefty-ism!

Today, Apple unveiled its new Apple Watch. The watch uses a "crown" that you twist to do things like scroll or zoom in on a map.

UNLESS YOU'RE A LEFTY.

Introducing: The Apple Watch...for lefties.

Lefties are used to a world that's not made for us.

So far no lefties have been shown wearing an Apple Watch on their right arm. #AppleLive

But this is like those right-handed desks from high school all over again.

Applewatch - a F**K you to lefties

The design of this iWatch has proved one thing, if you're right-handed you're SUPPOSED to wear your watch on the left damn hand people! TY

Apple watch is amazing! It will do laundry, make dinner! Oh, you're a lefty? Never mind. #lefty #AppleEvent

Lefties could, in theory, just wear the watch on their left hands anyway, right?

I wear my watch on my right hand. #Damndamndoubledamn

Well:

.@futurejunkie At first, I didn't think it mattered: I'm a lefty who wears watch on left wrist. But all this drawing will be tough.

Interestingly, in a 1984 interview, Steve Jobs said most of the best engineers he knew were lefties:

What do people do for fun out here? I've noticed that an awful lot of those who work for you either play music or are extremely interested in it.

Oh yes. And most of them are also left-handed, whatever that means. Almost all of the really great technical people in computers that I've known are left-handed. Isn't that odd?

Are you left-handed?

I'm ambidextrous.

Rise up, lefties!

A reporter on site at the Apple event announces that, having tried it out, the watch does in fact have a left-handed mode. Next time, Apple may want to point this out in the keynote — and avoid the wrath of the left-handers.

For you lefties: The Apple Watch crown works OK when the watch is on your right hand. But there's a southpaw mode which flips the UI around.

(But even without the lefty mode, it's reasonably easy to manipulate the crown with your left hand.)
