krissiscreename 6 months agoI tended bar at a strip club. We had some state champion pole dancer and she was awesome. Seeing it in person is really cool. She gave gravity the finger.

It should absolutely be an olympic sport. Here’s a shot of a sideshow guy doing pole dancing in a kickass burlesque circus called La Soiree. Elegant and athletic. No different from rhythmic gymnastics or synchronized swimming.

Wow these people are amazing! I can’t believe how they stay up there when it looks like they are barely hanging on! It seems like pole dancing is more of a performing art than a sport though. I associate it more with other forms of dance like ballet. This event would definitely be exciting to watch in the Olympics though.

melissak26 6 months agoIf you still doubt that these people are artists and athletes, watch video from past competitions…holy shit. And really, the physicality is very close to aerialist/silk dancers.
