Jill Abramson Is Launching A Media Startup

Jill Abramson and David Carr kicked off WBUR's new series Fast Forward. While the pair rarely stayed on-topic, the night was full of candid moments, debate, and Abramson's latest breaking news.

Carr kicked off the night with some great advice for students studying print journalism.

And everyone was like, let’s laugh so we don’t cry...

And when asked who's perfect in journalism, Carr turned to religion:

And then Jill Abramson took the stage to chat with Carr.

She had an interesting take on her competition while at the times: “Stories of consequence.”

And not just from other newspapers, but also coming out of media companies like BuzzFeed and Gawker.

Even NYT journalists are slow to adapt, she noted.

No matter the form or outlet, Abramson was adamant about the purpose of the press.

But then things got a little lighter when she told the crowd about a recent drunk run-in with a reporter from New York Magazine...

And the audience was like, “Noted!”

And at some point they had to address the elephant in the room: Abramson’s departure from the Times, which she spoke about candidly.

Which segued into the big news about what she’s up to next (aside from teaching at Harvard).

    Carr alerted the crowd...

And we flooded Twitter with the breaking news!
