I don’t care for her music, but I applaud her for actually using her power of celebrity for good.

I can’t even believe how many people here are calling her an idiot or other nasty things. Not only is she one of the most talented, hard-working singers in the entire industry, but she uses her incredible star power to support great causes, especially gay causes.  Plus, you all are complaining that she didn’t take the time to memorize her script… could you do any better? She spoke for four-and-a-half minutes plus another minute and the end, and given how many songs she has to know from memory to sing EVERY FREAKING NIGHT on her tour, I think that’s fine. Not like politicians memorize their speeches, either. Anyway, I love towards the end when she gets the busy signal, and she just smiles like “…oh, crap.” :D Goes to show whatever can go wrong will go wrong. I only have stupid, backwards Mississippi senators to work with, but I’ll try tomorrow anyway…

@Lilly, I bet AT LEAST half of all Americans don’t know who their senator is, or their congressmen, and probably a lot of them don’t know who their governor is either.

Imagine if you were a gay soldier, living in close proximity to 9 straight soldiers who can’t stop talking about how they can’t wait to get home to their girlfriends so they can rub their saggy titties and flappy wrinkled labia, for six months of deployment. It works both ways, buddy. Why should it matter who is more comfortable talking about sex with their partners when the job at hand has nothing to do with sex whatsoever.

Why is this so important? Should we also quit kicking fatties out of the military as well? Many of whom are skilled at their jobs?  Imagine how uncomfortable you would feel on a two hour flight sitting next to a morbidly obese lady who keeps asking for extra peanuts, now apply this to a straight soldier who is living in close proximity to an openly gay person who can’t stop talking about how they can’t wait to get back home so their boyfriend Bruce can bounce his hairy beanbag off of his chin, for six or more months of a deployment.
