I think there’s a lot of problems here, the least of which is this costume.
First- yes, racism 100% still exists. But stop trying to assert it’s always going to be white against black. It’s asian against black, it’s black against white, it’s white against mexican, it’s mexican against idk who mexicans might be prejudiced against.
Second- we are becoming way too sensitive. I’m not saying her outfit isn’t offensive. It’s not to me, but I can’t say that it’s not to other people. But look at this shitstorm that is happening because of it. Does it warrant this kind of attention ??
Third- our sensitivity when it comes to race has made it very hard for some white people (I will include myself in this, but not try to drag any other in) to recognize TRUE racism where it happens (though blatant racism is easily recognisable). It can make us insensitive to it, because we see something that in all truthfulness was not racist but more insensitive than anything else, but we see people coming up in arms about it. We roll our eyes, we feel attacked by some of these comments telling us because we’re white and white people in the past did atrocious things to black people that the stigma of it is still on us. There’s blood on our hands, according to some of these comments. We get upset, we get annoyed. Because it’s obvious any time we open our mouths and disagree about something concerning race, specifically what does or does not warrant a lecture and rant about racist behavior.. we will always be wrong and it will always be implied we are racist.
