6 Strangest Last Will And Testaments

Though we all think we'll be thinking clear and intelligently during our last days before heading towards the white light, there are many of us who won't behave as gracefully as we imagine. Even some of the most intelligent and popular people in history have has some very strange and bizarre last requests for their last will and testament. Here are six of the wackiest:

1. William Randolph Hearst

Most people must have thought that the wealthy newspaper mogul had been quite the ladies man. While in his book length will he left his $59.5 million dollar fortune to be divided between his wife, his sons, and his charitable foundation, he also created a fail safe of sorts for anyone who claimed to be his illegitimate child, he wrote that if anyone could prove "that he or she was a child of mine..." would receive "the sum of one dollar." Though he also declared that anyone who made such a claim would be a liar.

2. Benjamin Franklin:

The American genius even had some strange requests in his will, including stating his wish that his daughter not take part in “the expensive, vain and useless pastime of wearing jewels.”

3. S. Sanborn

As an American hatmaker, most people would figure S. Sanborn to be a rather eccentric individual the lawyer who drew up his will must have thought it noble that in his will he made the choice to dedicate his body to science. However he also stipulated in his will that his body was to be put to good use. Apparently, his skin was to be used to make two drums and given to a friend that would be required to bang them to the tune of "Yankee Doodle" every June 17th at Dawn.

4. Napoleon Bonaparte

There's a reason why there is an entire complex named after him. The French emperors last will stated that he wished his head be shaved and his hair divided among his friends. What is strange about this is that in recent times, the remaining hair had been tested and traces of arsenic had been found in it.

5. John Bowman

This wealthy man was convinced that his entire family who had passed before him would be reincarnated upon his death, and he insisted in his will that dinner would be prepared for him each night after his death in the even that he would return to earth...and have an appetite.

6. Eleanor E. Ritchey

This heiress to the Quaker State Refining Corp. was infamous for naming her 150 dogs as their heirs to her 4.5 million dollar fortune. Unfortunately, only 75 of those dogs were able to survive and inherit the incredible sum of money.
