I don’t know why this is so creepy to me! Props to everyone for showing links to the other pics… I totally wasted my entire night looking up abandoned theme parks, malls… pretty much anything abandoned that had a video on youtube.
The place is truly creepy. Here are some photos from when I went last August: http://www.flickr.com/photos/gonzo_vision/sets/72157627230921973/.
from wikipedia: The New Orleans Industrial Development Board has agreed to let 20th Century Fox to film Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters movie in the abandoned theme park, during the summer of 2012 through August.[16] Mega Zeph, Ozarka Splash, and The Big Easy are three rides that have been shot for the movie along with five other rides that the production crew had brought into the park, since all the original rides were rendered inoperable to shoot for the movie. Before shooting at the park for five weeks, the production crew took two weeks before to whip the littered, derelict park into the needed condition like, install lighting, and to cover up the graffiti off the buildings. In the film the park will portray the park Circeland on the island of Polyphemus, that was built by the goddess Circe. Only to be destroyed by the cyclops Polyphemus.[17]
This is beautifully creepy. I’d love for a horror movie to be shot there. And the abandoned Kentucky Kingdom/Six Flags is Louisville more heartbreaking to look at b/c you have to drive by it. It’s sad we’ll never get another amusement park built there.
