I have a love of all things vintage and antique. I was digging through a dollar bin at one of my local haunts when I came across this locket. . .It was pretty beat up, with some of the color wearing off, and I couldn't get it open, but something about it called to me. I figured what the heck, it's only a dollar! So I had to get it.
The Front of the Locket
Fast forward a couple weeks. I had set the locket to the side until I had time to look at it more closely. I had almost forgotten about it, to be honest. I sat down at my desk, turned the lamp on bright, and looked at it closer. I knew the locket was older, possibly closer to antique than just vintage, but I wasn't sure of the date. I tried prying it open again, it finally gave, and I shrieked with delight with what I found. . .two pictures of two handsome soldiers, looking up at me. The locket had obviously been worn and loved, with the wear on the back of the locket, and I suspect it belonged to a mother, keeping her boys close to her heart. I couldn't add this locket to my Etsy page of vintage goodies, I had to hold on to it.
The Handsome Fellas in Uniform
These guys will be staying with me for a while, I think. I try not to keep too many pieces of jewelry, but I'm making an exception for this locket.
