10 Entertaining Games For Your Kids To Play In The Car

Never get bored on the road again. Kids crave fun, especially during car time. Play these games to keep them on their toes, and you'll arrive at your destination in no time.

1. Hum-along

How to play: Each player takes a turn and hums a song of their choice. The other players have to guess which song it is. Whoever guesses correct first wins!

2. License Plate Game

How to play: Each player gets a list of all 50 states. Each time they see a plate from a state, they get to cross it off. Bonus points for variations of license plates from the same state. Perfect for extra-long road trips.

3. Car Bingo

How to play: Print out bingo cards. Each time the player sees one of the things on the card, they get to put a piece down. Whoever makes a full line first wins! Pack some travel goodie bags to give out as prizes.

4. Alphabet Game

How to play: Each player has to find things that start with each letter of the alphabet. The items they find have to begin with the particular letter. First person to find something from each letter of the alphabet wins.

5. Geography Game

How to play: One player starts by picking a state or city. The next player must then say a state or city that begins with the last letter of the previous player's choice. Continue this pattern for as long as possible!

6. I Packed My Suitcase

How to play: This memory game will challenge everyone in the car! One player starts by picking an item to pack in their suitcase, the first item starting with the letter "A." For example: "I packed my suitcase with an alligator pen." The next player has to repeat that item and then pick a new item, this time beginning with the next letter of the alphabet. You continue until you've gone through the entire alphabet.

You can alter the rules a bit by making up categories for what items you're allowed to pack. For instance, things only found in a bedroom.

7. Song Pop Quiz

How to play: Click the seek button on your car radio. When it stops, everyone in the car has to guess the artist and song name. First person to get it right wins! You can also divide it by points, one point for the correct song title and one point for the correct artist.

8. 20 Questions

How to play: Each player take turns being the answerers. They have one person, place, or thing in their mind. The other players, the questioners, go around in a circle and ask "yes" or "no" questions to try and determine what the secret thing is. If they can't figure it out after 20 questions, the answerer has stumped them and won that round!

9. Rhyming Round-Robin

How to play: One person begins by saying a sentence. The person to their right says another sentence, rhyming the last words. Keep going around in a circle until someone can't think of a rhyme. That person gets knocked out of the circle, and the remaining players keep going. This requires good listening skills because you can't repeat the same word twice!

10. I Spy

How to play: One player chooses an object they can see, either inside the car or outside. They announce, for example, "I spy something green," perhaps if something green is in the car. The other players look around the car and try to guess which object it is.
