INDIVIDUALS PAY FOR THEIR OWN EMPLOYER-SUPPLIED INSURANCE, JFC. Sorry, I work in an insurance call center and the stupidity grates, both in regards to who’s paying for private health insurance AND the fact that even if all members of an insurance plan are chipping in for free birth control for its members, it’s a HELL of a lot less expensive than paying for the prolonged serious health condition called pregnancy which results from not being able to afford birth control. (And the next person who tells me that if you want birth control you can pay for it yourself gets to try to squeeze it into my budget, in which there are some weeks I have to decide if I want gas to go to work or to eat for the next three days.) (AND the person who responds to that by saying, “Try not having sex, slut” - I’m a virgin. But way to argue the poor should never get to have sex.) (… I may be a little frustrated by this whole stupid issue.)

ZoeLC a year agoWow, I really feel sorry for Ms. Fluke as what she was arguing for was something entirely different than what Rush made it out to be, yet some people are still using her as a scapegoat. Also as a Canadian (who has never been to the states, so I am clueless about the intricacies of the American healthplan), I was suprised at the comments regarding how much Americans pay for birth control per month. For me personally, I would always just pick it up at the drugstore every month and walk right out without a thought…makes me want to get extra prescriptions and smuggle them across the border to give to women, something so petty to me would make a difference to them :/

be insured. The new contraception law
requires every insurance plan to provide
the prescriptions 100% free.. No copay
allowed. The cost will be passed on to
everyone thru higher rates. So yes, other
people are, in turn, paying for contraceptives
for other people. -

Anyone else notice that in this cartoon universe apparently birth control is entirely free and yet the government is still trying to pay for it? Seems like a waste of zero dollars. This is how I know little thought was put into the making of this. Hope this has been helpful,

What offends me more than this incredibly offensive cartoon is the LIE that the government is paying for anyone’s birth control. NYT’s Maureen Dowd: He (Limbaugh) said insuring contraception would represent another “welfare entitlement,” which is wrong — tax dollars would not provide the benefit, employers and insurance companies would. And women would not be getting paid just “to have sex.” They’d be getting insurance coverage toward the roughly $1,000 annual expense of trying to avoid unwanted pregnancies and abortions, and to control other health conditions.
