    At this time period it did. That's exactly why people are mad, because it's supposedly romanticizing colonialism in Africa. You know, that thing you should have studied in history class? When Africans were imprisoned and made into slaves? So, she's not being racist, she's saying something…

    I'm pretty sure that if she had set the video in a zoo, like you suggested, she'd be criticized by defendants of animal rights. What I'm getting for your comments isn't even that you wanted some mention of the colonialism, but you just didn't want the video to be set in Africa whatsoever.…

    Totally agree. Not everything has to be a race debate. This is a music video not a documentary. It's not her job or intention to make any sort of political statement nor to raise awareness for any sort of issue. It's just a video about a love affair. It's meant to entertain; nothing…

    "she packages our continent as the backdrop for her romantic songs devoid of any African person or storyline" uhm... if she were to add an African person in the video and keep it historically accurate she would have had to cast and African actor/actress to play the role of a slave.…
