I think you're taking the song and the video far too seriously. Everything about both is tongue-in-cheek. Also, hate to burst your happy sunshine puppies bubble, but most people can relate to the fantasy of someone who treats others badly getting some sort of comeuppance — and that doesn't make them selfish or bitter; it makes them human.

But since writing can be a hobby, and many types of writing don't require any certification or specific education (such as, most obviously, fiction writing), your analogy is ridiculous. The implication that people who blog haven't gone to school and don't have real jobs is also, well…pretty ridiculous.

As far as I'm concerned, if writing is your primary hobby (or something that you're throwing your life into in the hopes of getting published), then you're a writer. Now, does that make you a journalist or an author? Absolutely not. Until you're published, well — you're just an amateur writer.
