Everyone got the memo through a massive campaign involving TV, radio, newspapers and the typical avalanche of Swedish governmental hand-holding. This happened at five in the morning on a Sunday, no one rebelled. The cars moved super slow and all the people in the pictures were just standing around looking. The first accident after the switch involved a DUI out in the middle of nowhere and the total amount of accidents during and after the switch where about the same as usual — if not lower, due to the decreased speed limits. The Swedish word for Road Rage would be “Vägvåld” (Road Violence), a word I doubt was ever used in conjunction with this snoozefest.
