“KILL THEM, KILL THEM ALL, NO TRIALS!” That attitude is why we’re fighting an eternal war on a TACTIC (not a nation or group) that is counter-productive by design. Criminal trials for the organizers of terrorist violence, as done in nearly ALL countries affected by terrorism (much worse than what we’ve received) are the most effective solution to terrorism historically, and have the nice side effects of NOT bankrupting a country with trillion dollars worth of wars and making large swaths of the world hate us more and more. BUT… on the other hand a live Bin Laden giving testimony might have answered a lot of really dangerous questions the US govt would like forever put to rest (at the bottom of the ocean). “Where did you get your money, supplies and training? What if any have been your links to the CIA and allied nations’ intelligence? Can you prove it?” ps - to everyone saying Bin Laden was armed or hiding behind his wife, but that Moore is a child —> YOU are the children. Barbara did have a good point about the Martydom (not quite good enough though to completely invalidate Michaels though), dumb blonde bitch who I want to mouth gag with my cock, not so much. One point that I am a bit surprised no one made was that….where were the Nuremberg trials held and who held them? The point being is that the trials don’t HAVE to be held in New York, and even though this whole “we’re still at war” thing is kind of bullshit, we at least were/are participating in a war on a national scale, so the trial itself could feasibly have other countries participating as well. But anyway, I have actually never been the biggest Michael Moore fan anyway, even when I do agree with him, I find his smugness (although not present here) often can be self defeating these days.

I’m curious about the legality of American soldiers illegally invading yet another country, breaking however many international laws (and Pakistani laws) to do as they please? Eventually this type of shit is going to catch up to you and someone’s going to knock your collective teeth in with a suitcase nuke in a major city.

The exact same thing happened in India recently where Kasab, the one guy caught alive in the Mumbai Massacre from 2008 attacks. We deliberately didn’t shoot him down and gave him a fair trial. Great as that is to show India’s democratic values.. unfortunately the judiciary system sucks and the whole trial has gone on for 3+ years costing us millions a day to keep him alive and protected.
I guess the ideal in all these scenarios are to have a trial but an equally quick judgement.

He has “sort of” a point, but one which he ultimately can’t prove. As long as Obama claims that Seal Team 6 would have removed OBL alive if everything had gone perfectly (which he has claimed) then you can’t say it was really an execution order.  The question then becomes, to what degree do you balance OBL’s life against a member of the team? How much risk are they allowed to take in order to bring him back breathing? The answer is: not very much. And frankly, that seems fair to me. Hypothetically, he could have been brought to trial. But realistically, that’s unlikely in most firefight situations. If it were a choice between bringing him in alive (at great loss of American life) and not bringing him in at all, I’d be willing to adopt the third option: bringing him in at great risk to his own life.

He has a good point but he makes sound too easy. She also has a good point but you can’t kill someone ignorantly just because you want to and his followers will see him as a martyr no matter where or how he dies.

Yeah, the Nazis got trials followed by a first class hanging. No hand-wringing about it. The rest got prison. Of course they didn’t run back after prison and try to keep fighting the war too. A trial would have been terrible. Is anyone willing to put the lawyers and judges involved on a lifelong hit list? Rushdi still is and he just wrote a book. I wish people would quit being so naive. Moore is a child.

Hate to say it, but the man sort of has a point! I think that it would have been badass if we did have a trial in New York, rub his face in the mess that he made and made him be accountable for his actions; though it probably would have taken place in D.C. Osama maybe never deserved those rights to begin with but neither did the Nazi’s, and yet we still gave it to them and punished them accordingly. On the other hand, I doubt Osama would have given a rat’s ass if he was put on trial, either way you do it, it would make him look like a martyr which is horrible. We did what we had to do, if we didn’t shoot him, he probably would have shot at us! I see both sides.
