therblig 10 months agomy sister-in-law works at a women’s prison that fosters and trains dogs for service dog programs. after they’re housebroken and given basic obedience training by the inmates, they’re sent to Canine Partners for Life and trained as “service dogs, home companion dogs, and residential companion dogs to assist individuals who have a wide range of physical and cognitive disabilities.” It’s a great program, so if you have a few bucks lying around…

Lillithdv8 10 months agoI truly believe what they are doing is wonderful. The inmates are employed in a constructive task, hopefully finding purpose and structure in a tough place and a dog is saved from certain death.
If I wasn’t living at the other side of the world, I’d adopt a dog from there in a heartbeat. -
