If your girlfriend wants you to go broke for an engagement ring (and gets upset if you don’t) then she is the one who isn’t ready in life and is clearly a materialistic harridan that you should probably consider cutting loose. Spending three months salary on an engagement ring is an archaic concept. The ring is a symbol of your love - not the amount of money spent on it. If you can’t afford it why, oh why would you put yourself in debt? Besides, I rather my man put that money up for a down payment on a house.
